James “Jim” Howard East, IV, age 53, of Monterey, died Thursday, January 19, 2006 at his residence. He was born June 10, 1952 at Baltimore, MD a son of the late James H. East, III and Elizabeth Corine (Roloff) East of Catonsville, MD.
On May 29, 1983, he married Lynda (Yingling) East.
Mr. East received his electrical engineering degree and masters from Auburn University. He was a senior associate for the consulting firm of Booz, Allen & Hamilton for 25 years. He was a member of Wesley Freedom United Methodist Church in Baltimore. He had been an Eagle Scout and a scout master for the Boys Scouts of America. He was a member and past-president of Freedom District Lions Club in Sykesville, MD and a member of the Monterey Lions Club. He was an avid Harley Davidson motorcycle rider.
Surviving in addition to his mother is his wife, Lynda East of Monterey; two sons, James Christian East of Leonardstown, MD and John Wilbert East and his wife, Jen of Wahiawa, HI and a grandson, Miles Taylor East; an aunt, Alice Jayne Vanderwart and her husband, Paul of Catonsville and a number of cousins. Mr. East was predeceased by a brother, Wilbert East.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m., Sunday, January 22, 2006 at Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell and from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday at Haight Funeral Home in Sykesville, MD.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m., Wednesday at Haight Funeral Home by the Rev. Richard McCullough. Burial will be in Lakeview Memorial Park near Baltimore.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Highland SPCA, P.O. Box 6, Monterey, VA 24465.
