James Edward “Eddie” Moats, 57, died Sunday, May 13, 2001 at the University of Virginia Medical Center.
He was born July 26, 1943, at Highland County, a son of Grover Cleveland and Lillie Mae Malcolm Moats.
He was a retired truck driver with Kisamore Lumber Company in Churchville.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Gilbert Moats; and a sister Margie Van Pelt.
Survivors include two daughters, Diane and Kristina Moats, both of Baltimore; a long-time companion, Joyce Ann Simmons of Churchville; three sisters, Betty Woolridge and Virginia Simmons of Churchville, and Lucy Koiner of Staunton; three brothers, William Smith of Staunton, Byron Moats of Mount Solon and Grover Cleveland Moats of Woodbridge; four granddaughters, Kayleigh, Keirstian, Trystin and Cheyanne Moats, all of Baltimore; nieces; and nephews.
A service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Obaugh Funeral Home by the Rev. Dennis Sites, with burial at Totten Chapel Cemetery near Moyers, W.Va.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Riley, Ray, Steve and Gary Kisamore, Bitch and Drew Britt, Woody Echard and Brad C. Cornelius.
Honorary pallbearers will be Pete Jones, Steve Shuey, Dougie Britt and friends attending the service.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 tonight at the funeral home.
