Hubert Kenton Ratcliffe, 61, of Warm Springs, died Saturday November 6, 2004 at his home. He was born May 30, 1943 in Highland County, a son of the late Kent Harper and Mary Lottie Simmons Ratcliffe.
Mr. Ratcliff was the manager of Mill Run Farms and a member of the Starr-Bolar United Methodist Church. He was a charter member of and former president of Bolar Fire Department and a former member of Bolar Ruritan Club.
He is survived by a beloved companion, Betty H. Schooler of Warm Springs; two daughters, Kimberly Rexrode and her husband, Danny of Warm Springs and Tammy Taylor and her husband, Randy of Concord, Ohio; two sons, Hubert Ratcliffe Jr. and his companion, Sandra Howdyshell of Craigsville and Matthew Ratcliffe and wife Lori of Hot Springs; three grandchildren, Zachary and Ely Taylor and Erica Ratcliffe; a sister, Frances Terry of Bolar; three nieces and a nephew; three great-nieces and a great-nephew; two special family friends, Cy Osborn and Lucy “Granny” Carroll and his former wife, Lucille Ratcliffe of Stuarts Draft.
A funeral service was conducted at 1 p.m., Tuesday, November 9, 2004 at Obaugh Funeral Home by the Rev. Debbie Carey and the Rev. Mike Puffenbarger. Burial will be in the Hamilton Chapel Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Eddie Turner, Mike Humphries, Ricky Baldwin, Denny Ray, Dwight Walton, Jim Armstrong, Andy Terry and Carl Ratcliffe.
Honorary pallbearers will be family, friends and neighbor attending the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Starr-Bolar United Methodist Church Building Fund, Hot Springs, Va. 24445.
