Howard “Dick” Woods, 94, of the Mill Gap Community in Highland County, died Saturday, April 27, 2002, at King’s Daughters’ Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Mr. Woods was born Sept. 26, 1907, in Mill Gap, and was a son of the late James Harmon and Lizzie Wade Woods.
He worked in the C.C.C. Camps in the 1930s. He was a livestock farmer and a member of Green Hill United Methodist Church.
His wife, Ruby Fulton Woods, preceded him in death in 1963.
He is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth W. Hefner of Monterey; a son, James H. Woods of Staunton; a stepson, Charles M. Gutshall of Staunton; a brother, James “Grant” Woods of Monterey; 15 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
The Rev. Jerry Ginn will conduct a graveside service at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Green Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 this evening at Obaugh Funeral Home.
