Herbert Botkin

Herbert “Herb” Junior Botkin, 78, of McDowell, passed away Thursday, August 30. 2018 in Staunton.

He was born in McDowell on September 7, 1939, the only child to the late Beulah Mabel (Varner) and Lester James Botkin.

Herb attended Hiner Church of the Brethren. He loved to hunt and fish, enjoyed square dancing and faithfully attended the Highland County Fair. He enjoyed time spent with his grandson and great-grandchildren; but above all Herb will be remembered as a loving and devoted father.

He is survived by his son Douglas A. Botkin and wife, Sandra; grandson, Douglas D. Botkin and wife, Brianna; great-grandchildren, Lily, Alex and Piper Botkin, all of Churchville; as well as long-time companion and dear friend, Sally Robertson of Staunton.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Monday, September 3, 2018 at Obaugh Funeral Home with pastor Jeff Fike officiating. Burial will follow in Doe Hill Cemetery.

Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m., Sunday, September 2 at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Steve Armstrong, David Neil, Ronnie Miller, Larry Armstrong, Carson Snyder, James Shull, Dale Burns and Roger Arbogast.
