Miss Helen Marr Vance, 91, of The Hermitage, in Richmond, died Friday, March 14, 2003 at her residence. She was born January 5, 1912 at McDowell, a daughter of the late John Wellington and Ruth Crouch Vance.
She had been a private-duty nurse in Philadelphia, Penn. for many years and was a member of McDowell Presbyterian Church.
She was preceded in death by a sister Janet Vance Dunn, in 1981.
Surviving are four sisters: Josephine Vance Hague of Richmond, Lavinia Vance Bird, Irene Vance Michael, both of Monterey, Jean Vance McKenna, of Apopka, Fla.; two brothers, Lohr Crouch Vance and William Vance, both of Richmond. She is also survived by four nieces, four nephews and a number of great-nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted 10 a.m., Tuesday, March 18, 2003 at Obaugh Funeral Home by the Rev. Lester LaPrade. Burial will be in the Shumate Family Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be nephews and great-nephews.
