The funeral for Harry Luther Puffenbarger, 80, Blue Grass, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell.
The Rev. Jerry Ginn will conduct the services. Burial will follow at Union Chapel Cemetery near Hightown.
Mr. Puffenbarger died Monday, February 9, 1998, at The Springs Nursing Center in Hot Springs, where he had been a resident since May 1997.
He was born April 6, 1917, in Winterburn, WV, and was a son of the late Albert Luther and Eliza Fleisher Puffenbarger.
He attended Union Chapel United Methodist Church and was a retired farmer and sawmill operator. He was co-owner and operator of the Highland Drive-In at Forks of the Water for many years. He served on the Highland County Board of Supervisors from 1970 to 1984 , the Planning Commission from 1984 to 1988 and the Welfare Board from 1985 to 1993.
Survivors include one brother, William Dale Puffenbarger, Monterey; four sisters, Margaret Virginia Newlen, Monterey, Ina Mae Wimer, Blue Grass, Gladys Viola Mullenax, Franklin, WV and Lillian Grace Puffenbarger, The Springs Nursing Center, Hot Springs; eight nieces and four nephews.
The family will receive friends at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home and at the Blue Grass Ruritan Building following the burial.
Memorial donations may be made to the highland County Rescue Squad or the Blue Grass Volunteer Fire Department.
