Harold Beverage

Harold Cloist Beverage, 77, of Staunton and formerly of Monterey, passed away surrounded by his family Friday, May 26, 2017 at his home.  He was born July 21, 1939 in Highland County a son of the late Cyril C. and Lucy (Halterman) Beverage.

For more than thirty years Mr. Beverage was a self-employed building contractor and backhoe/loader owner-operator, having worked in the Lake Monticello area of Fluvanna County.  Harold enjoyed the outdoors, water skiing, golfing, and especially his time spent in Highland County.

He is survived by his wife, Betty (Siron) Beverage, whom he married December 25, 1960; his son, Mark Beverage of Staunton; his brother and sister-in-law, Melvin and Nancy Beverage of Staunton; his sister and brother-in-law, Connie and Mike Widner of Verona; three nephews, Robert Beverage, Troy Perryman, and Joshua Widner; a special caregiver and friend of Mark’s, Christina Sundell; as well as numerous cousins.

In addition to his parents, Harold was preceded in death by his niece, Kathy Hildebrand.

A funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m.  Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at Obaugh Funeral Home with the Rev. Andre Crummett officiating.   Burial will follow in Beverage Memorial Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home.

Active pallbearers include Jim Beverage, Berlin Beverage, Mike Widner, Wayne Beverage, Bob Beverage, Robert Beverage, Bud Wimer, Kevin Armstrong, and David Armstrong.  Friends attending the service will serve as honorary pallbearers.
