Harlan “Shorty” Lakewood Gutshall, 68, of Richmond, died Wednesday, February 5, 2003 at McGuire Veterans Hospital in Richmond.
He was born September 12, 1934 in Vanderpool, a son of John W.D. and Hazel C. Woods Gutshall.
He retired from Dixie Electric Supply in Richmond. He served two tours in Germany and one in Korea with the U.S. Army.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Hartzel Gutshall.
He is survived by a son, Paul Gutshall; four sisters, Herthel Chestnut of Verona, Arlene Peters of Mechanicsville, Russie Peters of Virginia Beach and Darlie King of Monterey; a brother, Hunter Gutshall of Perry, Fla.; several nieces and nephews; and special friends Belinda and Scott Stagg of Richmond.
A funeral service was conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, February 8 at Obaugh Funeral Home by the Rev. Jerry Ginn.
Burial was in Monterey Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Donald Gutshall, Terry, Darrin and Kirk King, Dean Chestnut, Bucky Smith, Scott Stagg, Jay Meare and Clem Kincaid.
Honorary pallbearers were friends attending the service.
