MONTEREY, VA Guy Leroy Siron, 90, of Monterey, passed away Monday, February 11, 2013 at Emeritus at Staunton. He was born April 29, 1922 in McDowell a son of the late John Howard and Sarah Elizabeth (Armstrong) Siron. Mr. Siron retired from Virginia Metal Crafters where he worked as a machinist. He was a member of McDowell Presbyterian Church as well as a charter and the senior most member of the Stonewall Ruritan Club. An avid outdoorsman, he loved to hunt and travel throughout the United States. Additionally, he was a skilled handyman, who enjoyed tinkering and fixing things. On October 15, 1949, he married Ruby Gail (Scott) Siron, who preceded him in death on March 14, 2004. He was also predeceased by five sisters, Peggy Crawford, Martha Brown, Mary Armstrong, Cornelia Carter and Hattie Siron and three brothers, Gilbert, Joe and Garth Siron. He is survived by two nieces, Brenda Beverage of McDowell and Sally Gilbert of Covington; nephew, Howard Crawford of Raleigh, NC and great-nieces and great-nephews.
A memorial service will be conducted 2 p.m., Friday, February 15, 2013 in Monterey Cemetery with the Rev. Beth Pyles officiating.
