Gretta Simmons

Gretta (Wimer) Simmons, 85, died Saturday, August 16, 1997 at Nella Nursing Home.

She was born Octobert 27, 1911 at Highland County, a daughter to Lewis Andrew and Almeda May (Sponaugle) Wimer.

She married Arlie Simmons on July 17, 1930 and he preceded her in death on February 20, 1992.

Surviving are two daughters, Virginia S. Simmons of Staunton and Velda S. Rohrbaugh of Mill Creek; four sisters, Jean Bussey of Stuarts Draft and A. Blanche Probst and Annabelle Wiseman, both of Newport News and Stella Suddarth of Stuarts Draft; a half-sister, Patricia Berry of Churchville; four grandchildren, Sheldon E. Simmons of Staunton, Sandra Beverly of Buena Vista, Danny Dale Rohrbaugh and Donna Lee of Mayhew of Mill Creek, WV ; and three great-grandchildren, Danny Dale Rohrbaugh Jr., Joshua Stephen and Jessica Renea Mayhew, all of Mill Creek, WV.

A service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Obaugh Funeral Home with burial at the Simmons Family cemetery near Monterey.

Pallbearers will be Danny Rohrbaugh, Jack Beverage, Darrell Vandevander, Guy Wimer, Jim Skinner and Hoyle Helms.

Honorary pallbearers will be friends attending the service.

The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. at Obaugh Funeral Home.
