Grace Ellen Newcomb

Grace Ellen Newcomb, 80, of Cherry Grove, WV died Monday, February 1, 1993 at her home.

She was born September 20, 1912 at Zigler, a daughter of Clarence and Texie N.(Simmons) Vandevander.

Her husband, Dick Newcomb, died December 21, 1966. She was also preceded in death by a son, Gene Newcomb.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and a member of North Fork Farm Women's Club.

Survivors include four daughters, Beatrice Dove of Timberville, Rosie Barry of Denver, CO, Ellen Arbaugh of Cherry Grove,  and Lois Long of Baltimore, MD; two sons, Dorian of Alliance, OH, and Tommy Newcomb of Cherry Grove; two sisters, Lucy Warble of Harrisonburg, VA, and Beula Sheets of Carrollton; three brothers, Roy of Franklin, Ray of Caldwell and Glenn Vandevander of Dayton, VA; 22 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

A service will be conducted 1 p.m. Friday at Obaugh Funeral Home by elders David and Woodrow Hartman and Bishop John Harman. Burial will follow in Blue Grass Cemetery.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
