Gordon Reed Corbett, 84, of Richmond, passed away suddenly Monday, November 4, 2013. He was born January 5, 1929 at Mustoe, (Highland County), a son of the late Fred C. and Clara (McGuffin) Corbett. Gordon was a graduate of Monterey High School and served in the US Army in 1946-1948. Before moving to Richmond, he worked at the Highland Recorder office for two years. He retired from CSX Railroad after 36 years of service and was Manager of Commerce Pricing Services. He was a member of Monterey Presbyterian Church, Chessie Vets Club, Westhampton Lodge No. 302, Scottish Rite, and American Legion No. 0155. Gordon loved to hunt and fish. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann Gillespie Corbett; sisters, Vera Corbett and Helena Gee and brothers, Claude and Ronald Corbett. He is survived by his niece, Lisa Corbett Boxley (David) and family of Montpelier; sister-in-law, Ruth Simpson of Gaithersburg, MD; nephew, Barton Simpson (Teri) & family of Boonsboro, MD; nieces, Brenna Tobler (Charles) of Arlington and Rachel Ann Simpson (Donald Umstadter) of Lincoln, NB.
