Genevieve C. Dever, 90 of Waynesburg, PA, died at 9:20 p.m. Sunday, October 3, 1993 at Greene County Memorial Hospital at Waynesburg.
She was born in Mill Gap, Va. on June 26, 1902, a daughter of the late Joseph C. and Eva (Wade) Chestnut. On May 6, 1925, she married Stewart G. Dever, who died February 25, 2983.
She was a homemaker and also worked briefly as a sook at Albert's Restaurant in Waynesburg and in the Laundry Department at the Greene County Memorial Hospital.
A former resident of Virginia, she resided in Waynesburg since 1934.
She was a Methodist by faith.
Survivors include two daughters, Eline McCarty of Middle Branch, Ohio and Beatrice King of Waynesburg; sister, Pearl C. Dill of Largo, Fla; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and a nephew, Oscar Chestnut of Louisa, Va.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Marvin, Richard and Roy Chestnut; and one sister, Gladys Chestnut.
A service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Green Hill Methodist Church at Mill Gap, Va. with the Rev. Robert Haley officiating. Burial will follow in Wade Cemetery in Mill Gap.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. and from 7-9 p.m. tuesday at the Behm Funeral Home, Inc. 182 W. High St., Waynesburg, and from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Green Hill United Methodist Church.
