Geneva Gray (Varner) Altizer, 61, of Monterey, died on Thursday, September 19, 1996 at University of Virginia Medical Center.
She was born on March 15, 1935 at Monterey, a daughter of Luther and Evalena (Eckard) Varner.
She was a member of Church of God of Prophecy where she served as a Sunday school teacher, clerk and treasurer for about 20 years.
Surviving are her husband, Glenn M. Altizer Sr., to whom she married October 6, 1956; a daughter, Jeannie Simmons of Grottoes; a son, Glenn M. Altizer Jr; two sisters, Lalie Beverage and Reba Gum, all of Monterey; two brothers, Robert of Stuarts Draft and Jacob Hevener of Staunton; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Sunday at Church of God of Prophecy by the Revs. Charles and Larry Turner, with burial at Augusta Memorial Park conducted by the Rev. Terry Stevens.
Pallbearers will be Berlin and Jim Beverage, Kevin and Travis Simmons, David Botkin, Gideon Hiner, Ezra Haltreman and John Lohr.
Honorary pallbearers will be nieces, nephews and friends attending the service.
