Gary Eugene Mitchell

Gary Eugene Mitchell, 62, of Monterey passed away Monday, April 24, 2023 at Augusta Health.

He was born September 16, 1960 in Fort Riley, KS, a son of the late Curtis Eugene and Barbara Jean (Rexrode) Mitchell.

One who enjoyed time spent outside, Gary could most often be found working in his garden, deer hunting and trout fishing. As a youth, he played baseball and softball, and was nicknamed “Stretch.” He loved picking on his children and time spent reading. Above all, Gary will be remembered as a good-hearted father and without question loved his grandchildren.

He is survived by his twin children, Steffanie Jean Mitchell and boyfriend, Sean Snyder of Staunton and Stephen Eugene Mitchell of Monterey; four granddaughters, Grace LeeAnn Mitchell, Rose Jane Mitchell, Sky Lee Mitchell and Evelynn Paige Snyder; brother, Larry Stanley Mitchell of Monterey; nephew, Justin Matthew Mitchell of Monterey; as well as special caregiver, Missy Lockridge of Williamsville.

A memorial service will be held 1 p.m., Friday, April 28, 2023 in Monterey Cemetery with pastor Bobbi Jo Gardener officiating.
