Gary Wayne Armstrong, 66, husband of Elizabeth Ellen Kimble Armstrong of Moyers, W.Va., passed away Monday, Oct. 22, 2012, at his home.
He was born Dec. 11, 1945, in Harrisonburg, Va., a son of the late Lynn Stover Armstrong and Martha Hoover Armstrong Simmons.
Mr. Armstrong worked as a logger and was a member of the St. Paul Independent Lutheran Church. Additionally, he was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in Vietnam and was a member of the Sugar Grove VFW Post 9666.
In addition to his wife of 41 years, he is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Michael Armstrong of Moyers, W.Va., and Tracy Armstrong and wife Bobbie, of Sugar Grove, W.Va.; two grandchildren, Kinsley and Connor Armstrong; three brothers, Dick Armstrong of Staunton, Delbert “Bud” Armstrong of Doe Hill, and Jim Armstrong of McDowell; and two sisters Jean Eckard of Sugar Grove, W.Va., and Nancy Hatcher of Churchville, a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 26, 2012, in the St. Paul Independent Church Cemetery with the Rev. Jerry Smith officiating.
The family will receive friends from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 26, 2012, at Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell.
