Freda Thacker

Freda H. Thacker, 64, of Mechanicsburg, Pa, formerly of McDowell, Va., died Saturday, March 30, 1996, at Forest Park Health Center at Carlisle.

She was born June 7, 1931 at McDowell, a daughter of Winfield and Maggie (Varner) Hammer.

She was a member of the Hiner Church of the Brethren, but attended the West Shore Church of the Brethren at Mechanicsburg. She was retired from bell Atlantic and was a member of Telephones Pioneers of Pa., the Harrisburg chapter.

Surviving are her husband, Charles Thacker Jr. of Mechanicsburg; a son, D. Scott Siple and wife, Teresa, of Churchville, Va.; a step-son, Richard L. Thacker and wife, Carolyn, of Sangersville, Va.; a step-daughter, Rebecca T. Furr and husband, Elwood, of Staunton, Va.; two sisters, Mary H. Sweitzer of Monterey, Va., anna Lee Pullin in Staunton, Va.; a brother, John D. Hammer of McDowell; and six grandchildren.

A service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Obaugh Funeral Home by the Revs. Jack Wilkers and Robert Haley with burial at Calvary United Methodist Church Cemetery in Stuarts Draft, Va.

Pallbearers will be Frank Walters, Forrest Bosserman, Fred Frye, Bill Huffman, Harold Newman, Ralph Rexrode and Jimmy Lucas.

Honorary pallbearers will be friends attending the service.
