Fred "Buzz" Clifton Armstrong

Fred Clifton “Buzz” Armstrong, 72, of Deerfield, died Monday evening (May 31, 1993) at Alleghany Regional Hospital.

He was born May 2, 1921 at McDowell, a son of Jacob H. and Louie (Siple) Armstrong.

He was a member of the Presbyterian Church. He retired from the U.S Navy after 25 years of service and was a member of the Staunton Loyal Order of Moose Lodge No. 1635 and the Craigsville VFW Post No. 9480.

Survivors include a brother, Joe Arch Armstrong of Deerfield with whom he has resided since his illness; two daughters, Marie A. Scheuk and Christine A. Voytko, both of Pennsylvania; three nephews, Jake, Wade H. and Dennis Armstrong Jr.; one niece, Dorothy Lamb, and four grandsons.

A Service will be conducted 2 p.m. Thursday at Obaugh Funeral Home by the Rev. Harold Shiflet. Burial will be in McKendree Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Esper Nasim, David Dove, Steve Tolley, Raymond Collins, Cmdr. James Rice, and Jeff Wilson. 

Honorary Pallbearers will be David Armstrong, Bill Bratton, Nelson Bartley, William Revercomb, Jack Lamb, Marvin Simmons, Duff Lewis. John Rulapaugh, Jack Letner, H.D. McWhorter, Gene Riddle, Walter and Benny Armstrong, Ray Botkin, Kyle Obaugh and members of the Staunton Moose Lodge and the Craigsville VFW Post.
