Franklin “Nanny Goat” DeWitt Botkin, 74, of Staunton, passed away Saturday, June 9, 2012 at Envoy of Staunton.
He was born November 4, 1937 in Doe Hill a son of the late Charles William and Mary Shirley Rexrode Botkin.
Mr. Botkin was a member of McKendree United Methodist Church. He retired from Smith Transfer and had worked at Valley Block. He enjoyed working on small engines and vegetable and flower gardening. Also, he was a member of The Eagles and The Moose.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Moran Botkin, whom he married on July 4, 1965; two daughters, Theresa Wooddell and husband Don of Staunton, and Brenda Burnett of Radford; son, Mike Botkin and wife Amy of Staunton; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jerry Armstrong of Deerfield and Wilma Simmons and husband, Larry of Verona, and brother, Ray Botkin and wife Louise of McDowell.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Grace Grogg, Lola Armstrong and Marie Spain; and three brothers, Woodrow, Randolph and Dennis Botkin.
A funeral service was conducted at 11 a.m., Wednesday, June 13, at Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell with the Rev. Dave Boger officiating. Burial was in McKendree Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Sonny Lambert, Jake Armstrong, Wade Armstrong, Don Wooddell, James Carter and Gerald Carter.
