Frankie Blair Armstrong, 67, of Staunton died Wednesday, May 25, 2005 at the V.A. Medical Center in Salem. He was born September 27, 1937 in Head Waters, the last son of the late Ernest Blair and Hester Simmons Armstrong.
Mr. Armstrong served in the U.S. Army. He worked 10 years for VDOT as a surveyor and 15 years for Augusta County Service Authority as an inspector. For the last 20 years, he was a construction contractor, building houses and doing excavating work.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Wayne and Carl Stover Armstrong.
He is survived by a son, Tim Armstrong of Staunton; three sisters, Pearl McCray of McDowell, Audrey Corbett of Monterey and Thelma Jane Armstrong of Raphine; three brothers, Waldo Armstrong of Churchville, Charles Armstrong of Head Waters and Eugene Armstrong of Ormond Beach, Fla.; a step-daughter, Kim Herron of Staunton; a step-grandson, Ian Herron and a number of nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 28, 2005 in the Heat Waters Cemetery by the Rev. Lester LaPrade.
Active pallbearers will be Larry Davis, Brent Wilke, Scott Englaman, Phillip Brown, Gary and Larry Armstrong.
Honorary pallbearers will be Basil White, Randy Layman, Robert, Danny and Robby Shifflett, Doug Wolfe, Henry Roadcap, Don Moyers, Billy Strickler and Wood McLaughlin.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Friday, May 27, 2005 at Obaugh Funeral Home.
