Faye Douglas (Truxell) Woods

Faye Douglas (Truxell) Woods, 80, of Staunton, passed away, Tuesday, December 26, 2023 at Westminster Canterbury in Lynchburg.

She was born August 14, 1943 in Baltimore, MD, a daughter of the late Clarence Douglas and Cleta Frances (Link) Truxell.

Faye had worked at Effie Ann Johnson Nursery and then at Community Child Care Center.  Faye was an active member of Christ United Methodist Church. She loved playing cards, shopping, and doing crafts of all kinds.  But above all, Faye was a proud grandmother, her grandsons were truly her greatest joy.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, James Howard Woods on December 2, 2018. She is also predeceased in death by her twin sister, Kay T. Miller and her brother-in-law, Robert “Bob” Miller.

Surviving are her children, Amy Switzer and husband, Mark of Chantilly and Wesley Woods and wife, Melanie of Madison Heights; four grandsons, Grant and Reed Switzer and Peter and Harmon Woods; a brother, W. Dale Truxell and wife, Pam; a sister, Joy T. Houff and husband, Mike; as well as a number of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, December 29, 2023 at Christ United Methodist Church, 1512 Churchville Avenue, Staunton, Va. 24401, with the Rev. Jim Harris officiating. The committal portion of the service will take place at 3 p.m. in Green Hill Cemetery, 63 Green Hill Lane, Monterey, Va. 24465.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church.

Active pallbearers will be Peter Woods, Harmon Woods, Grant Switzer, Reed Switzer, Bill Wagner and Mike Showalter.
