Farrell Eugene Canup, 67, of Churchville, died Saturday, December 13, 2003 at Augusta Medical Center.
He was born March 28, 1936 in Mt. Ulla, N.C., a son of the late Patterson F. and Mary Ruth Cress Canup.
On April 23, 1960, he married Emma Corean Armstrong.
Mr. Canup attended St. James Unite Methodist Church. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. He worked 29 years for the Transit Authority in the Washington Metropolitan area.
He is survived by his wife, Emma Canup of Churchville; two daughters, Patricia Armstrong of Churchville and Teresa Giltner and her husband, John, of Manassas; three sons, Donnie Armstrong of Churchville, Larry Armstrong and his wife, Sue, of Dayton and Calvin Canup of Alexandria; six grandchildren, Deann Smith, Chris, Sean Armstrong and Donnie Armstrong, Jr. and Timmy and Michael Giltner and two great-granddaughters, Katelyn and McKenzie Smith.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m., Wednesday, December 17, 2003 at St. James United Methodist Church by the Rev. Ralph Grow.
Burial will be in the Green Hill Cemetery in Churchville.
Active pallbearers will be Henry Budzinski, Dave Joblonski, Mike Mimna, John Giltner, Ray Kisamore and Ed Pravlik.
Honorary pallbearers will be the grandsons and friends attending the service.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m., Tuesday at Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell.
