HIGHTOWN, VA Everett Harry Rexrode, 86, of Hightown passed away Friday, December 11, 2015 at Augusta Health. He was born December 14, 1928 in Hightown a son of the late Arthur Lee and Grace (Hiner) Rexrode. Mr. Rexrode was born and lived his entire life on the family farm, where he raised cattle, sheep and at one time poultry. He was a maple producer at the family run sugar camp, "Rexrode Maple Sugar Orchard". Mr. Rexrode was a member of the Hightown United Methodist Church. He dearly loved his family and placed them above all. Additionally, in later years he enjoyed conversing on the telephone with his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his son, James E. "Jimmy" Rexrode; grandson, Shawn Taylor; son-in-law, Larry Plyler; sister, Lucille Thornton and brothers, Roscoe, Herbert, Forrest, Warren, Ashby, Berlie and an infant brother. Surviving is his wife, Anna Lee Rexrode, whom he married on June 30, 1951; three daughters and sons-in-law, Phyllis Plyler of Waynesboro and friend, Donnie Spencer, Mary and George Taylor of Staunton and Penny and Vernon Wooddell of Monterey; daughter-in-law, Julie Rexrode of Mill Gap; seven grandchildren, Melissa Sprock and husband, Hank of Fishersville, Amanda Kelso and husband, Wesley of Waynesboro, David Taylor and wife, Amy of Staunton, Jaimie Simmons and husband, Joshua of Doe Hill, Derek Rexrode of Hightown, Jeffrey Wooddell and wife, Michelle of Staunton, and Brandon Wooddell of Staunton. He also leaves behind eight great-grandchildren, Caden and Carys Sprock; Lauren, Abby and Kolt Kelso; Catherine Wilson, and Makenzie and Cameron Wooddell; two sisters, Mary Waybright of Coshocton, OH and Isabelle Fisher of Stuarts Draft and a number of nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted 1 p.m., Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell with the Rev. Andre Crummett and George Taylor officiating. Interment will follow in the Rexrode Family Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Derek Rexrode, Jeffrey Wooddell, Brandon Wooddell, Joshua Simmons, Hank Sprock, Wesley Kelso, David Taylor, Gary Jack and Larry Thornton. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Whitecotton, Jake Colaw, Junior Smith, Sam Hise, Larry Bandy, Jerry Smith, Ed Higbee and Cason Spencer. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Highland County Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 268, Monterey, VA 24465 or a charity of choice.
