Everett Cox

Everett W. Cox Jr., 66, of Monterey, died Thursday, December 26, 1996 at his residence.

He was born February 2, 1930 at Monterey, a son of Everett Sr. and Bevice (Lickliter) Cox.

He owned and operated Cox Variety Store in Monterey for 40 years, and served in the Navy. He was a member of Monterey Presbyterian Church and was a former member of the Highland County Rescue Squad and the Highland County Fire Department.

He married Joyce Wagner, who survives, on June 6, 1959. Also surviving is a daughter, Nancy Sweitzer, of Monterey.

A service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Obaugh Funeral Home by the Revs. Jerry Ginn and William Moore with burial in Monterey Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Darwin King, Robert G. Hammer, David Lightner, Buddy Hunt, Michael Hilbert, Donald Dowdy, E.T. Sweitzer Jr. and Eldon Galford. Honorary pallbearers will be friends attending the service.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home or residence at any time.
