Ethel White Clayton, 86, of Monterey, died Sunday, February 23, 2003 at Avante in Waynesboro.
She was born January 31, 1917 in Highland County a daughter of the late Henry Patterson and Lenora B, Moats White.
On June 22, 1935, she married Franklin Edward Clayton, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by a son, Franklin E. Clayton Jr.; two sons-in-law Donnie L. Halterman and Randolph Waybright and a daughter-in-law, Bonnie Clayton.
Mrs. Clayton retired from Aileen, Inc. and she was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Dallas Waybright of Monterey, Ella and Dale Propst of Monterey and Myrtle and Bill Lamberts of Staunton; a son, Mike Clayton of Verona; five grandchildren, Rick Halterman and wife, Teresa, Robert Halterman and wife, Candy, Eddie Lambert and wife Kim, Greg Lambert and wife, Amy and Jennifer Propst, all of Staunton; seven great-grandchildren, Donnie, Valerie, Matthew and Mackenzie Halterman; Jason, Bryan and Rachel Lambert and a foster great-grandson, Chris Whitelaw.
A funeral service will be conducted at 3 p.m., Wednesday, February 26, 2003 at Obaugh Funeral Home by the Rev. Michael Sullivan and the Rev. David Burch.
Burial will be in the Asbury United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Rick, Rob and Donnie Halterman and Eddie, Greg and Jason Lambert.
Honorary pallbearers will be the grandchildren and friends attending the service.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
