Elsie Browne Terry, 74, of Monterey, died Friday, September 6, 2002 at the Bath County Community Hospital. She was born October 18, 1927 at Monterey a daughter of the late G. Jessee and Eunice Lightner Hiner.
On August 11, 1955, she married Curtis Terry.
Mrs. Terry was a member of the Monterey United Methodist Church. She was involved in real estate sales in Roanoke and in Highland County. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Roanoke Elks Club #197; a member of the Highland Chapter of the United Daughter of the Confederacy and a member of the Monterey Garden Club.
She is survived by her husband, Curtis Terry of Monterey; a son, Douglas Herold and his wife, Ivonne of Gassaway, W.Va.; two sisters, Joyce Solomon of Hot Springs and Elizabeth “Bobbie” Hefner of Monterey; three grandchildren, Jessie, Marc and Travis Herold and a number of nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m., Sunday, September 8, 2002 at the Monterey United Methodist Church by the Rev. Mike Sullivan.
Burial will be in the Monterey Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Clem Kincaid, Henry Booth, Tom Gibson, Don “Robin” Sullenberger, Jerry Rexrode and Rodney Leech. Honorary pallbearers will be friends attending the service
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Obaugh Funeral Home.
