WAYNESBORO Elsie S. McCormick, 96, of Waynesboro and formerly of Williamsville, passed away Monday, September 8, 2014 at the home of her granddaughter, Tammy. She was born February 12, 1918 in Huntersville, WV a daughter of the late Davis Fulton and Florence Lillian Shinaberry. Mrs. McCormick was a homemaker and was once employed by VSDB in the dining hall. She enjoyed her cats, raising chickens, gardening and canning. Above all, she loved time spent with her granddaughters and great-grandchildren. Mrs. McCormick was a faithful member of Williamsville Presbyterian Church. On May 19, 1943, she married Charles Revercomb McCormick, who preceded her in death on September 20, 1992. Additionally, Mrs. McCormick was predeceased by her sister, Lillian Snipstad and two brothers, Alvin and Harlan Shinaberry. Mrs. McCormick is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Charles Davis and Carolyn McCormick of Williamsville; two granddaughters, Gail Armstrong and husband, Kevin of New Hope and Tammy Gallimore and husband, Jay of Waynesboro; five great-grandchildren, Kylie and Abigail Armstrong, Hunter, Melody and Forrest Gallimore and a number of nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m., Friday, September 12, 2014 at Obaugh Funeral Home with Pastor Clair Heatwole officiating. Burial will follow in McClinic/Williamsville Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be A.D., Curtis, Danny and Ashley Shinaberry, Jeffery Strickler and Mark Zimmerman. Honorary pallbearers will be family and friends attending the service. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Obaugh Funeral Home.
