Elsie Mae Chestnut, 84, of Monterey, died Sunday morning, April 24, 1994 at her residence.
She was born June 4, 1909 at Monterey, a daughter of Andrew Jackson and Amanda (Propst) White.
She was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church and before her retirement had cooked at High's Restaurant in Monterey for 20 years.
Her husband, Laymon Chestnut Sr., died August 20, 1984.
Survivors include a daughter, Charlotte Rexrode of Verona; a son, Laymon Chestnut Jr. of Staunton; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
A service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Obaugh Funeral Home by the Rev. Robert Haley. Burial will be in the Wade Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Ronnie and Steve White Jr., Michael High, Darrel Gumn Jr., Robert Shuttleworth and Dale Hammer.
The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
