Edward Franklin Botkin, 85, of Sugar Grove, WV passed away Saturday, June 1, 2024 at Hospice of the Piedmont in Charlottesville, Va.
He was born August 21, 1938 in Pendleton County, a son of the late Bertha Mae Botkin, and was raised by his uncle, the late Charles Pinkney “Pink” Botkin.
A simple man, Ed lived a happy life utilizing basic necessities and his knowledge of living off the land. He loved hunting game in the fall and morels in the spring, fishing, as well as gigging fish and eels. Additionally, he enjoyed time spent pitching horseshoes. Above all, Ed will be remembered as a person who never met a stranger and enjoyed visiting with people in the community.
The last member of his immediate family, Ed is survived by extended family members as well as numerous friends throughout the Sugar Grove Community.
A graveside funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Monday, June 3, 2024 in the Botkin Family Cemetery with Rev. Jerry Smith officiating.
Pallbearers will be friends in attendance.
