Edward Bailey

Edward N. Bailey, of Staunton, died Sunday, December 23, 2007 at Lucy Corr Village in Richmond.  He was born in Bluefield (formerly Graham), VA., a son of the late Gratton M. and Ada (Griffith) Bailey.  Mr. Bailey was a graduate of Virginia Polytechnic Institute, where he received a degree in Business Administration.  He served in the Army Air Forces and was stationed in England during World War II.  Following 34 years of service, he retired as an Agent from the Internal Revenue Service in Staunton. Mr. Bailey was preceded in death by a sister, Janet Bennett and a brother, Ralph Bailey.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia (Hansel) Bailey; Two daughters and son-in-law, Sybil B. Hutchens and husband, Mather of Midlothian and Janice Bailey of Stockton, California; one brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Lessie Bailey of Charleston, South Carolina; 4 grandchildren; 1 nephew and several nieces.

A private graveside service will be held in the McDowell Cemetery by the Rev. James Hutchens.  Arrangements by Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell.
