Dorothy Kiracofe McCray, 72, of Moyers, W.Va., died Tuesday, April 24, 2001, at her home.
She was born May 21, 1928, at Doe Hill, Va., a daughter of Jesse Booker and Viola Roxie Botkin Kiracofe.
Mrs. McCray was a member of the Doe Hill United Methodist Church. She had worked at many different jobs, but the one that she cherished the most was the time she spent as a caregiver to the elderly.
On October 29, 1946, she married Robert Brown McCray, who preceded her in death December 16, 1980. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Gilbert Botkin.
She is survived by two daughters, Shirley Alt, Upper Tract, and Linda McCray, Sugar Grove; three sons, Robert L. McCray, Meredith W. McCray and Alfred L. McCray, all of Moyers; two sisters, Laura Stuart of Head Waters, Va. and Myrtle Hoover, of Moyers; five grandchildren, Michael McCray of the U.S. Army, Elizabeth Dana McCray of Essex, Md., Gary Alt of Upper Tract and Melissa Moats of Grottoes; and five great-grandchildren, J.W. Scott of Brandywine; Kaitlyn and Joshua McCray of the home, and John Preston and Carena Dawn Moats of Grottoes.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 28, 2001, at Obaugh Funeral Home by the Rev. Charles W. Townsend. Burial will be in the Doe Hill Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Dick Hiner, Johnny Scott, Arthur Thompson, James and William Stuart and Gernon Hoover.
Honorary pallbearers will be the grandchildren and the great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 Friday evening at the funeral home.
