Dorothy Porter Cobb, 98, of Alexandria and formerly of McDowell, passed away Sunday, April 23, 2017, at the home of her granddaughter.
She was born April 29, 1918, in Sinnemahoning, Pa., a daughter of the late Guy Gilbert and Mabel May (Ober) Porter.
One June 12, 1942, she married George “Elmo” Cobb, who preceded her in death on April 7, 2003.
A homemaker, Mrs. Cobb will be remembered farming alongside her husband, for her needle work—most especially her crocheting, and for her love of dancing. A deeply spiritual woman, Dorothy was baptized Methodist and attended church as a Jehovah’s Witness.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her four sisters.
She is survived by a daughter, Linda Lee Alexander, of Alexandria; a son, David Porter Cobb, of Lorton; two grandchildren, Guy R. Alexander, of Woodbridge, and Marlenia Kay Neff, of Alexandria; as well as three great-granddaughters, Vanessa Alexander and Veronica and Victoria Neff.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, April 29, at 11 a.m. in Monterey Cemetery.
The family will receive friends, 6-8 p.m., Friday at the funeral home.
