Doreen Alberta Ralston, 85, of the Meadowdale community of Highland County, died Sunday, January 26, 2003 at The Springs Nursing Center.
She was born June 20, 1917 at Mill Gap, a daughter of the late Lawrence B. and Maude Gum Ralston.
Miss Ralston was a local artist. She owned and operated Woodlane, an antique and craft shop, for many years. She was a member of Pisgah Presbyterian Church and a member of the board of the Highland County Arts Council.
She was an only child.
She is survived by a special cousin and caregiver, Darrell Gumm Jr. of Monterey and a number of other cousins.
A funeral service was conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, January 29 at Obaugh Funeral Home by the Rev. James W. “Bill” Moore and the Rev. Jerry Ginn.
Burial was in the Monterey Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Doug Gumm, Ronnie White, George Bird, Jim Stephenson, Mike High, Stacey Newcomb, Rodney Kershner and Dan Foster.
Honorary pallbearers were friends attending the service.
