Donald “Don” Randolph Malcolm Sr., 74, of McDowell, died Sunday, January 9, 2005, at his residence.
He was born September 11, 1930, in McDowell, a son of the late Claude Allen and Mildred Siron Malcolm.
Mr. Malcolm graduated from Franklin High School in Franklin, W.Va. and attended Bridgewater College. He retired after 32 years of service from General Development Corporation in Florida as a construction superintendent. He moved back to his home place near McDowell to be close to his brother. He was a member of McDowell Presbyterian Church and Stonewall Ruritan Club and he enjoyed caring for “Boots” the cat.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Mae Nelson Malcolm, on July 31, 1982 and his second wife, Luella Fay Woods Malcolm, on January 28, 2002; a sister, Dorothy Zaniewski, and two brothers, Joseph Brown Malcolm and Claude A. Malcolm Jr.
He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Beverly Ann Kunc of Lincoln, Neb. And Debi Sue and Clark Wilson of Punta Gorda, Fla.; a son and daughter-in-law, Donald R. Jr. and Patricia Malcolm of Punta Gorda, Fla.; a stepdaughter, Deanna Kay Rosier of Belleview, Fla.; seven grandchildren, Patrick and Michael Kunc of Lincoln, Neb., Jessica and Dean Wilson of Punta Gorda, Fla., Victoria and Elizabeth Malcolm of Flordia and Michael Joslin and his wife, Shannon, of Punta Gorda, Fla.; two step-grandchildren, Melanie Sanchez and Jason Rosier of Belleview, Fla.; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Ronald Malcolm and his wife, Darlene “Sue” of McDowell; a brother-in-law, Felix “Phil” Zaniewski of Las Vegas, Nev., and numerous nieces and nephews including beloved caregivers, Drs. Joseph and Koressa Malcolm of McDowell.
A funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 15, 2005, at McDowell Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Lester LaPrade.
Burial will be in McKendree Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be members of the Stonewall Ruritan Club and McDowell Volunteer Fire Department. Honorary pallbearers will be friends attending the service.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Obaugh Funeral Home.
