Winston-Salem, NC Donald Glenn McAllister, 63, of Winston-Salem, NC, passed away Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, Winston-Salem. He was born October 5, 1951 in Clifton Forge, VA, son of Irene (Corbett) McAllister and the late William Tazwell McAllister. Mr. McAllister attended elementary school in Clifton Forge, VA, and graduated from James River High School in Buchanan, VA. Following graduation he enlisted and served honorably in the US Coast Guard. Mr. McAllister worked in law enforcement in Atlantic Beach, Wilmington, and Greensboro, NC prior to his employment with North Carolina DMV, from which he retired. Mr. McAllister will be fondly remembered as a man that enjoyed playing golf and time spent in the woods hunting. Additionally, he was a member of Central Advent Christian Church in Clifton Forge, VA He is survived by his mother, Irene Corbett McAllister, Mustoe, VA; his loving and devoted partner, Judy Cowen, Winston Salem, NC; son, Daniel Glenn McAllister and wife, Sabrina of Buchanan, VA; daughter, Jennifer Berry and husband, Matthew of Creedmoor, NC; step-daughter, Elayne Cowen of Winston Salem, NC; grandchildren, Devin, Dyllan, and Dawson McAllister, Grant Berry, and Landon Martin; two sisters, Carolyn Maydian of Collinsville, VA and Jan Austin and Bob Keffer of Roanoke, VA; special friend, Stacy Wooten; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive. A graveside memorial service will held 2 p.m., April 25, 2015 in Monterey Cemetery, with the Rev. Kenny Carroll officiating.
