DeVona Lippard Malcolm, 92, of Calabash, N.C. an exceptional soul, entered this world during the Great Depression on August 29, 1930 in Lane, Tennessee and peacefully departed on March 3, 2023, at Lower Cape Fear Life Care Hospice in Bolivia, North Carolina surrounded by her family and friends. DeVona’s life was one of love and sharing her faith with others.
She was born to late Clayton and Maurine Lippard. She was the oldest of seven children and often times had to play the role of second mom. She grew up in farm country in Obion County, Tennessee. Her family also lived in Texas and Missouri.
DeVona leaves behind a loving family, including her daughter, Bonnie Lynn Malcolm; sons, Wallace Henry Malcolm, Jr. and wife, Jane, Jeffrey Wayne Malcolm, Theodore “Ted” Eugene Malcolm and wife, Gena; grandchildren, Holly Lynn Malcolm, Christopher Allen Malcolm and, wife Mercy Akinyi, and Theodore “Ted II” Eugene Malcolm II; great-granddaughter Devana; sister, Jane Sines; brother, Bill “Heg” Lippard. She leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, as well as sisters-in-law, Martha, Gloria and Cynthia.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters, Evelyn and Bonita; and brothers, Phillip and Royce.
A graveside service will be held 2 p.m., Thursday, October 12, 2023 at the Highland Seventh-day Adventist Church, 4176 Doe Hill Road, McDowell, Virginia.
