Derrick Mullenax

Derrick “Country” Allen Mullenax, 32, of Blue Grass, Va., passed away Sunday, Jan. 1, 2012 at Pawnee Valley Community Hospital, Larned, Kan.
He was born Oct. 11, 1979 in Harrisonburg, Va., a son of Richard Dale and Sharon Ann Simmons Mullenax.
Derrick was a logger. He had also worked at Hanover Shoe Manufacturing, and a poultry plant.
He is survived by his parents, of Blue Grass, Va.; son, Damiaen Allen Mullenax of Franklin, W.Va.; a sister and brother-in-law, LeJetta Marie and Jeremy Allen of Staunton, Va.; his maternal grandfather, Harold D. Simmons of Harrisonburg, Va.; and a niece, Lidia Ann Allen.
A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m., Friday, Jan. 6, 2012 at Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell with the Rev. Andre Crummett officiating.
Burial will follow in Blue Grass Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jeremy Allen, Jimmy Bennett, Shea Mullenax, Dustin Mullenax, Lanny Wimer, J.W. Tidd and Kelly Sweet.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Thursday at Obaugh Funeral Home.
