Della Simmons Siron, 88, of McDowell, died Wednesday, April 12, 2000 at Augusta Medical Center.
She was born March 25, 1912, at Sugar Grove, W.Va., a daughter of Jacob Riley and Maggie Viola (Smith) Simmons.
She was a homemaker. She had been employed at Western State Hospital and Staunton Manor Nursing Home. She attended Franklin Independent Baptist Church.
She married William Homer Siron, January 14, 1933; he preceded her in death on September 2, 1989. She was also preceded in death by an infant son; an infant daughter; two grandchildren; three brothers; and two sisters.
Survivors include four daughters and sons-in-law, Charlotte and Roy Simmons Sr. of Staunton, Doris and Bud Armstrong of McDowell, Thelma and Gary Pultz of Staunton and Gail and Marty Bowers of Franklin, W.Va.; three sons and daughters-in-law, Carroll and Nancy Siron of Swoope, Eddie A and gatnell Siron and James L. and Joanne Siron , all of McDowell; two sisters, Jessie Armstrong of Churchville and Charlotte Tichenor of Staunton; two brothers, Norvel Simmons of Cleveland, Ohio and Blaine Simmons of Staunton; 16 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
A service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at Obaugh Funeral Home by the Revs. Chester Richard and Bill Johnson, with burial in McKendree Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Olen C. Siron Jr., Roy C. Jr., Gary Simmons, Mark Scott and Timothy Siron, Darren A. Pultz and Brad Armstrong.
Honorary pallbearers will her granddaughters; nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home and at other times at the residence.
