Della Powers

Delia Jane (Smith) Powers, 60, of Fort Washington Rehabilitation Center, and formerly of Highland County, died Friday, February 7, 1997 at Fort Washington Hospital.

She was born December 5, 1937 at Highland County, a daughter of Samuel and Clara (Simmons) Smith.

She was a restaurant manager before her retirement.

Surviving are three sons, dale of La Plada, Md, Dickie of Alexandria, and Roger Simmons of Upper Marlboro; four sisters, Virginia Simmons of Harrisonburg, Margie Shifflett of McGaheysville, Goldie Burke of Front Royal, and Mary Bright of Manassas; brother Gilbert Smith of Keezletown and three grandchildren.

A service will be held at 2 p.m Tuesday at Obaugh Funeral Home by the Rev. Chris Witzel. Burial will be in Head Waters Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Tom Griffin, Herman Puffenbarger, James C. Todd Jr., Robert Lee Smith, Harold Griffin and Jim Pitsenbarger.

Honorary pallbearers will be friends attending the service.

The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
