Additionally, David enjoyed attending auctions with his grandson, Ryan (AKA "Dude," as his grandfather would call him) and shared a special bond with his great grandson, RJ.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Larry Wayne Puffenbarger and Donald Lee Puffenbarger; and sisters, Marie Waite and an infant sister.

In addition to his wife of 56 years, he is survived by two daughters, Cassandra Ailstock and Johnny of Warm Springs, Genie Cunningham and Richie of McDowell; son, David J. Puffenbarger of Warm Springs; grandchildren, Ryan Ailstock and Dominique, Christopher Ailstock and Alicia, Benjamin Ailstock, and Amber Puffenbarger all of Warm Springs, Kristen Cunningham, Wyatt Cunningham, and Harley Cunningham all of McDowell; great grandchildren, RJ Ailstock, Paisley Ailstock, and Gunner Ailstock all of Warm Springs; two brothers, Ralph Puffenbarger Jr. of Millboro and Terry Puffenbarger and Linda of Warm Springs; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
