Darlene Botkin

Darlene Benton Botkin, 61, of Sugar Grove, died January 6, 1996 at Camelot Nursing Home after an extended illness. Darlene was born April 16, 1934 at at Narrows, Va., a daughter of  Bertha Johnson and was orphaned at an early age. She was reared by an aunt, Eula Wayne, who preceded her in death.

Surviving are her husband, Wilmer Botkin of 33 years, her mother-in-law, Lydia Botkin, her nephew and neice, Harlan and Maria Botkin of Weyers Cave, Va. and a great nephew and niece, Jimmy and Vicky Bodkin of Dayton, Va. and Addam and Krystle Botkin of Weyers Cave, Va. and a cousin Linda Simmons of Franklin, W.Va.and other family and friends.

She was a member of Crummetts Run Church of the Brethren, former secretary to Lee Wood Homes, Inc., Waynesboro, billing clerk and part time dispatcher to Red Lines Trucking Company in the Danville and Martinsville, Va. offices.

She was a member of the V.F.W. Post 9666 ladies Auxiliary, Sugar Grove, WV and the South Fork Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary and for 17 years a member of South Fork Volunteer Rescue Squad and a member of Franklin Eastern Star Chapter No. 138, Franklin, WV. She was recently a homemaker of the Committee of Aging.

A funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, January 10, 1996, at 2 p.m. at Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell by the Rev. Allan Pugh. Burial will be in the Crummett Run Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Harlan Botkin, John Bowers, Roy Cowers, Clinton Bowers, Jay Smith, Perry Simmons and Jim Richard.

Honorary pallbearers will be Charles and Jimmy Bodkin, Nelson Simmons, Clyde Puffenbarger, Henry Botkin, Michael and Daniel Simmons.

The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, January 9, from 7:30-8:30 at the funeral home. An Eastern Star Service will be conducted at 7 p.m. prior to the visitation.
