Dale “VaHighlander” Simmons, 60, of Front Royal, Virginia passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 9, 2017 at his home.
Dale was born in 1956 in Monterey, Virginia the son of the late Graham and Della Simmons. Dale worked as a crane operator for VA Crane (Commercial Construction). Dale was a veteran having served in the United States Marine Corps achieving the rank Lance Corporal during the Vietnam War. Dale (better known as “VaHighlander”) was a life member of Winchester HOG Chapter, a supporter of Black Sheep Harley Davidson for Christ and also a member of the NRA. Dale enjoyed hunting and his job as a crane operator. VaHighlander loved to ride his Harley- Davidson wherever his life would take him. “It’s always a good day to ride.”
Dale is survived by a daughter, Bobbie Jo Simmons of Maryland; five sisters: Ethel, Susie, Patricia, Chrissy, and Judy; two brothers, Dickie Simmons of Brandywine, Maryland and Roger Simmons (Becky) of Blue Grass, Virginia.
A Celebration of Life will take place on Sunday, July 16, 2017 from 9 to 11 am at Groves Harley Davidson, 140 Independence Drive, Winchester, Virginia with Chaplain Lonnie Hitchcock officiating. Interment in McKendree Cemetery in McDowell will take place following the funeral procession from Groves Harley Davidson in Winchester.
