Cyril Beverage

Cyril C. Beverage, 93, of Verona, formerly of the Strait Creek community in Highland County, died Wednesday, November 5, 2008, at Augusta Medical Center. He was born June 29, 1915, in Highland County, a son of the late Andrew Morgan and Virgie Virginia (Beverage) Beverage.

Mr. Beverage was a member of Seybert Chapel United Methodist Church. He was a carpenter. He loved to fish, bowl and play golf, and he especially loved to square dance.

On October 14, 1936, he married Lucy Catherine Halterman, who preceded him in death March 4, 2005. He also was was predeceased by a granddaughter, Kathy Helderbrand, and a brother, James Lawerence Beverage.

He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Mike Widner of Verona; two sons and daughters-in-law, Harold and Betty Beverage of Stuarts Draft and Melvin and Nancy Beverage of Staunton; four grandchildren, Robert Beverage and wife, Linda, Mark Beverage, Troy Perryman and wife, Kristen and Josh Widner; two great-grandchildren, Nathan and Ashley Hildebrand and their father, Barry; a sister, Anna Grace Harold of Staunton; and a brother, Raymond Beverage of Mount Sidney.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, November 7, 2008 at Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell, with the Rev. Helen Zottoli and Mike Sullivan officiating. Burial will be in Beverage Memorial Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Wayne, Bob, Berlin, Jim and David Beverage, Ben Ralston, Rudolph Siron and Lonnie Arbaugh.

The family will received friend from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
