Corinne “Sue” Nash Robinson, 98, of McDowell, passed away peacefully Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at her Wild Meadows home surrounded by family.
Born in Lynchburg on September 12, 1920, she was a daughter of the late Robert Lee Nash, Sr. and Claudia Brizendine Nash. On October 5, 1944, she married Donald “Robbie” W. Robinson, M.D.
Sue graduated from Virginia Baptist Hospital School of Nursing in Lynchburg and served in the U.S. Navy Nurse Corps during WWII. She was a member of the McDowell Presbyterian Church and an ordained elder.
She is survived by two sons, Greg Robinson and wife, Mary of Charleston, S.C. and Donald Winfrey Robinson, Jr. and wife, Elizabeth Ketz-Robinson of Alexandria; three grandchildren, Linda Smith and husband, Kevin, Corinne Madeen and husband, Chris and Greg Robinson Jr. and wife, Ashley; three great-grandchildren, Joshua Smith, Samson Madeen and Harper Robinson; as well as many beloved nephews and nieces.
She was predeceased by her loving husband; three sisters, Katherine Nash, Arlene Nash and Evelyn Voorhees; and two brothers, Wayland Nash and Robert “Bob” Nash.
A memorial service in celebration of Sue’s life and faith will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday, June 15, 2019 at McDowell Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Beth Pyles. Sue will be interred with her husband at the Quaker Memorial Presbyterian Church Graveyard in Lynchburg.
A reception will be held at the Stonewall Ruritan Club Building in McDowell following the memorial service.
The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to McDowell Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 66, McDowell, Va. 24458 or a charity of your choice
