Clyde Rudolph Botkin, 81, of McDowell, died Monday, June 9, 2008 at King’s Daughters Community Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was born May 14, 1927 at McDowell a son of the late George Marvin and Mary Clay (Botkin) Botkin.
Mr. Botkin retired from Holsom Bakery. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Violet Whitmire Botkin; a daughter, Polly Botkin; a son, Charles Botkin; a granddaughter, Christie Botkin; two brothers, Leo and Ray Botkin and a sister, Fay Armstrong.
He is survived by a daughter, Patsy Botkin of McDowell, with whom he made his home; three sons, Roger D. Botkin of Sugar Grove, WV, David A. Botkin and wife, Julie of Crimora and Michael D. Botkin and wife, Brenda of Crimora; four grandchildren, Charles Botkin, Jr., Melissa Howell, Amanda Botkin and Nathan Botkin; two great-grandchildren, Corey and Caleb; a sister, Bernadine Wimer of Staunton; a brother, Clarence “Frosty” Botkin of Fort Worth, TX and a special granddog, Layla.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m., Wednesday, June 11, 2008 in Arbovale Cemetery. The body was cremated.
