Clifton Ray “Bruiser” Ryder, 37, of Warm Springs, died Tuesday, February 17, 2009 at his home. He was born August 25, 1971 in Leesburg a son of Virginia Ann (Chestnut) Martin and the late Hugh Edward Ryder.
Bruiser had worked as a truck driver, mechanic and a construction worker. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish and was a truck puller. He attended Virginia Chapel United Methodist Church and was a member of Hot Springs Volunteer Fire Department.
He is survived by his former wife, Terry Lynn Ryder of Millboro; his mother and step-father, Jenny and Lonnie Martin of Warm Springs; a daughter, Candice Page Ryder of Millboro; a sister, Lisa Martin of Warm Springs; a brother and sister-in-law, Scott and Ida Ryder of Hot Springs; a niece, Brooke Ryder of Hot Springs; a paternal grandmother, Montague Ryder of Warm Springs and a number of aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m., Friday, February 20, 2009 at the Virginia Chapel United Methodist Church by the Rev. Byong Ahn. Burial will be in Warm Springs Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Claude Saucy, Roger Smith, James Crawford, Eddie Swearengin, Robbie Chestnut, Wayne Hupman, Cole Plecker and Mike Salmon. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Hot Springs Volunteer Fire Department.
The family will receive friends from 12 to 2 p.m., Friday at the church.
