Clarence Reid Sipe Sr., 86, of Pendleton Nursing Home, Franklin, WV and formerly of Monterey, died on Saturday morning, September 25, 1993 at the nursing home.
He was born on October 20, 1906 at Monterey, a son of Thomas Jefferson and Izetta (Rexrode) Sipe.
He was a member of Monterey United Methodist Church. He operated a barbershop at Monterey for more than 50 years in addition to being employed by Virginia Department of Transportation until his retirement.
He was the last survivor of his immediate family.
His first wife, Lucille (Elliot) Sipe, died on October 20, 1996. His second wife, Mary (Warner) Sipe, died on July 6, 1976.
Surviving are two step-daughters, Polly Waggy of Franklin, and Peggy Harper of Mount Sidney, Va.; two step-sons, Jerry of Franklin and Chester Warner of College Park, Md.; two grandsons, Clarence R. Sipe III and Charles Douglas Sipe, both of Richmond; daughter-in-law, Judith Brannan of Richmond; a number of step-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at Obaugh Funeral Home by the Revs. Robert L. Haley and Richard Gibson with burial in Monterey Cemetery.
