Clara Heflin Ervine, 97, died Friday, November 2, 2001 at Oak Hill Center, where she had been a resident since February 1999.
She was born July 26, 1904, at Leesburg, a daughter of William Carter and Mary E. (Dodd) Heflin.
She was a retired school teacher who taught school in Loudon County for a year, in Harrisonburg for a year and in Highland County for 45 years. She was a member of McDowell Presbyterian Church, the Presbyterian Church Evening Circle and the McDowell Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Floyd Ervine, who died in 1954; a brother, Henty H. Heflin; and a sister, Bessie L. Newton.
Surviving are a daughter, Dorothy E. Parchment of Hollywood, Fla.; two granddaughter; six great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Mondayy at Obaugh Funeral Home with the Revs. Lester LaPrade and Jack Maxwell officiating. Burial will be in McDowell Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Louie Smith, Jim and Doug Siron, Leo McCray, Garner Smith, David Neil, Craid Smith and Joe Malcolm.
Honorary pallbearers will be friends attending the service.
Friends may call at Obaugh Funeral Home. There will be public viewing.
