Charlie Eckard

Charlie Payton Eckard, age 61, of Baltimore, MD died Saturday, September 16, 2006. He was born November 28, 1944 in Highland County a son of the late Earnest, Sr. and Abbie Catherine (Smith) Eckard.
Mr. Eckard retired from General Motors after 33 years.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Elvert “Ernie” Eckard and a sister, Julie Griffin.
He is survived by his wife, Diann Marie (Illian) Eckard, whom he married, November 8, 1964; two daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and Lee Brenneman and Nancy and Rob Pollom; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Thomas Eckard and Bill and Sara Eckard, all of Baltimore, MD; seven grandchildren; two brothers, Woody Eckard and his wife, Debbie of Fishersville and Earnest Eckard, Jr. of Culpepper; and a niece and three nephews, including, Brian and Mary Moats of Staunton.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m., Wednesday, September 20, 2006 at Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell. Burial will follow in the Head Waters Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Thomas, Joshua and Bill Eckard, Lee and Eric Brenneman, Rob Pollom, Brian Moats and Alvin Cook.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home.
